(WLOS-TV) — Members of  the 210th Military Police Company are on their way overseas. The National Guard unit said goodbye to family and friends Wednesday at Southwestern Community College in Sylva. More then 25 men and women will be responsible for providing security for military bases.

This is the second tour of duty for 17 members. They say technology has come a long way since 2004 and it will help them stay in touch with folks back here at home.

The 210th will first go to training in Fort Bliss, TX.  They will move on to Afghanistan later this spring.
