Body discovered in Andrews structure fire

Cherokee County NCThe following press release has been furnished by Chief Josh Litchfield of the Andrews Police Department

On Saturday April 27, 2013, at approximately 10:36 pm, the Andrews Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 46 Fairview MHP Drive. Officers with the Andrews Police Department arrived to provide crowd and traffic control. After the fire was extinguished a body was discovered amongst the rubble. The identity of this individual is not known at this time.

No names will be released until positive identification has been made and the family is notified. This incident is still under investigation with a joint effort from the Andrews Fire Department, the State Bureau of Investigation, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, and the Andrews Police Department.

I would ask the community to please ignore any rumors about this incident as to not cause any more grief to potential family members. A name will be released pending positive identification.

Josh Litchfield
Chief of Police
