The following press release has been issued by Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
On February 1, 2014 at about 10:00 PM, Joshua Waylon Saffold, age 33, and Brittany Allison Ward, age 19, both of Prince Road, Murphy, NC, were arrested and charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Marijuana, Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of Hydrocodone; all charges are misdemeanors except for the Methamphetamine charge. The arrests occurred after Deputy Nolan Queen stopped a vehicle being driven by Saffold due to faulty equipment. During the traffic stop, Queen, assisted by Investigators Todd White and Sean Mathews, conducted a search of Saffold’s vehicle resulting in the discovery of the contraband.
Saffold and Ward were transported to the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center where Magistrate Joe Bateman set a $50,000.00 (secure) bond on Saffold and a $5,000.00 unsecure bond on Ward.
Investigating Officers were Patrol Deputy Nolan Queen and Investigators Todd White and Sean Mathews.
