The following press release has been issued by Clay County Sheriff’s Office. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Sheriff Vic Davis said that on October 9th, at approximately 8:20pm said that his deputies went with N.C. Probation officers and executed a search at 48 Azalea Drive. Upon completing the search of the residence a small amount Dilaudid which is a Schedule II Controlled Substance was seized along with Drug Paraphernalia from 24 year old, Deborah Simone Medlin, who resides at the residence. According to Davis, Medlin is still being investigated and will be charged at a later date in reference to the Schedule II Controlled substances and drug Paraphernalia.
After the Officers completed the search and collected the alleged evidence from Deborah Medlin, Investigator Coker noticed a vehicle attempting to pull into the driveway behind the Law Enforcement vehicles at approximately 9:30pm. The vehicle then backed down the driveway to park in an adjacent driveway. Once the vehicle came to a complete stop in the lower driveway of 48 Azalea Drive officers identified the operator of the vehicle as 30yr old Emily Ann Silknitter and the passenger as 28yr old Kali Ren Linker, both residents of Clay County.
Officers approached the vehicle knowing that both occupants were on active probation and asked both occupants to step out of the vehicle. Upon searching the suspects and the vehicle, Investigator Coker seized a dealer amount of 8mg Dilaudid which is known as a Schedule II controlled substance. A user amount of Morphine Sulfate in pill form, Marijuana, and syringes were seized from the vehicle in possession of both alleged suspects.
Investigator Coker has arrested and charged with Silknitter in the past for drug offenses to which she pled guilty to a Sale/Delivery charge in Superior Court earlier in 2013.
Emily Ann Silknitter and Kali Ren Linker were taken before the Magistrate and charged with Possession with intent to Manufacture/Sale/Deliver Schedule II controlled substance, Felony Possession Schedule II controlled substance Dilaudid, Felony Maintain Vehicle/Dwelling/Place for a controlled substance, Simple Possession of Schedule VI Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Both were placed under a $20,000.00 secured bond and have a October 24th, court date set.
