The following news release has been issued by Clay County Sheriff’s Office. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Sheriff Vic Davis said that on October 21st, 2013 a routine traffic stop for a traffic violation that was made by Sheriff’s deputies netted a dealer amount of Methamphetamine.
The sheriff said that at approximately 1:20pm, Investigators and Deputies of the Clay County Sheriff’s Office stopped a small Isuzu truck for a traffic violation, and upon making the stop, the driver was identified as Sheena Michelle Parton, age 27 and her passenger was identified as Andrew “Andy” Smith, age 42.
Deputies had knowledge, according to Davis, that the two occupants had previously been involved in the illegal drug trade.
During the stop, Investigator Brandon Coker and Deputy Chris Moral asked Sheena Parton for her consent to search the vehicle.
Parton gave the officers consent to search, and during the search of the vehicle, officers found a small plastic container that contained a white crystal substance that tested positive for Methamphetamine. Found in the vehicle also were four Morphine RX pills, six Alprazolam RX pills, one Clonazepam RX pill, and one glass Methamphetamine smoking pipe.
Sheriff’s Investigators and Deputies also seized approximately $2100.00 cash from Andrew Smith which is being held pursuant to the investigation.
Both Parton and Smith were charged with Felony Possession of Methamphetamine, Simple Possession of Schedule II RX Morphine Pills, Simple Possession of Schedule IV Alprazolam, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Sheena Parton was also charged for Felony Maintain Vehicle/Dwelling for a Controlled substance and was placed under a $7,000.00 secured bond. Smith was placed under a $5,000.00 secured bond.
As a result of an on-going investigation, more warrants have been issued for Andrew Smith who was able to post a $5000.00 secured bond. According to Sheriff Davis, deputies are now looking for Smith who will be arrested again when apprehended.
Anyone who knows of where Andrew Smith is located, or sees Smith is encouraged to call the sheriff’s office and relay that information. All calls will be kept confidential.
