The following news release has been issued by the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Murphy, NC— On May 18th, 2014 the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office arrested Haley Erin Milholland, a 18 year old Blairsville, Georgia woman for possession of controlled substances.
On May 18th, 2014 the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in which Milholland was an occupant. During the traffic stop marijuana, paraphernalia and a Schedule I controlled substance were found to be in the possession of Milholland. Further investigation revealed that the Schedule I controlled substance was later identified as a compound of a non-prescription drug and heroin. Information was later obtained that Milholland had possessed the compounded heroin with the intent to sell to individuals in Cherokee County North Carolina.
Milholland was booked into the Cherokee County Detention Center on May 18th, 2014 and placed on a $5,000.00 secure bond which was later reduced in Cherokee County District Court to $2,000.00 secure. Milholland is scheduled to appear in Cherokee County District Court . June 03, 2014.
Sheriff Keith Lovin stated “Heroin in and of itself is an addictive and dangerous drug. When it is compounded with other drugs the mixture can often have deadly consequences. My office continues to be aggressive in deterring individuals from bringing such dangerous drugs into Cherokee County.”
