The following news release has been furnished by the Towns County Sheriff’s Office. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Towns County Sheriff’s Deputies recovered a stolen vehicle, firearm, and ammunition early Tuesday morning during the arrest of a Hiawassee man.
The subject was driving a vehicle reported stolen out of Hall County last Tuesday morning when Deputy Brandon Barrett spotted the vehicle and made a felony stop on 76 East near Shakerag. A BOLO (Be On Lookout) had been posted in the area for the alleged stolen vehicle, a 1985 Toyota FourRunner.
After securing the subject, deputies Barrett and Nations discovered a reportedly stolen pistol and ammunition inside the truck which belonged to the owner of the vehicle.
The subject was arrested and taken into custody without incident. The vehicle has been returned to the owner.
Bradley Jeremy Sutton, 33, of Hiawassee, was arrested and charged with two counts of Theft by Receiving, Possession of a Firearm by Convicted Felon, Driving While License Revoked, and Parole Violation.
The subject is currently housed in the Towns County Detention Center.
