Hiawassee man faces drug charges and possession of firearm by convicted felon

The following press release has been issued by Towns County Sheriff’s Office.  All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Appalachian Drug Task Force agents and Towns County Sheriff’s Office deputies served a search warrant on January 27 at a residence in the area of Sims Rd.

Samuel Dwain Hedden, 59, of Hiawassee, was charged with 2 counts of Possession with Intent to Distribute, 2 counts of Distribution of Marijuana, 1 count of Possession Less than an Ounce, and 2 counts of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. Hedden also faces charges of Probation Violation.

The suspect is being held in the Towns County Detention Center.
