Interstate 40 is closed in both directions near Cold Springs Creek Road in Haywood County while crews clean up from an accident involving an overturned tanker truck.
Traffic heading west is being detoured off I-40 at Exit 20, which is U.S. 276, and should use the following detour: Take Exit 53-B for I-240 West then take Exit 4-A for I-26 West. Motorists will continue on I-26 West until reaching I-81 near Johnson City, Tenn. Motorists will then take Exit 8-A for I-81 South and continue on I-81 South to re-access I-40 West in Tennessee.
Traffic heading east should use the following detour: Take Exit 421 in Tennessee for I-81 North. Continue on I-81 North until reaching Exit 57-A for I-26 East. Take I-26 East until reaching I-240 East. Continue on I-240 East then take Exit 8 to re-access I-40 East at Exit 53.
The road is expected to re-open before midnight on Monday.
