Man runs away after being bitten by his victim

Cherokee County NCOn Wednesday, Oct. 30 around 12:07 pm,  Murphy Police Department received a call from a female subject who had been approached and grabbed from behind by a male.

Dustin Smith, Assistant Chief of Police, tells WKRK that the female subject had been walking on the River Walk running trail near the Leech Place when a male subject came up from behind her and grabbed her from behind around her head and covered her mouth. The victim bit the male suspect on the hand and he released her.

The male suspect ran off in the direction of the L & N Depot and the female victim ran back to the Wellness Center to notify law enforcement.

The male suspect is described as a younger white male, approximately 6 feet tall wearing a brown coat and blue jeans.   Unfortunately this is the only description available .

The victim is fine and did not sustain any injuries.  She is just a bit shaken up over the incident.

Folks walking alone are encouraged to be very aware of their surroundings and to report any suspicious activity to law enforcement officials.   Cal 911 if you see trouble.

Law enforcement have been in the area attempting to locate the male suspect and are asking the public if they have any information on this incident to please contact the Murphy Police Department at (828) 837-2214.
