Meth arrests continue in the mountains

The following news release has been issued by Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.  All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

On February 21, 2014, around 11:30PM, Hugo Geovany Trejo, age 25, of 134 Cotton Top, Hayesville, NC was arrested and charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Paraphernalia,  Bringing a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine) into a Correctional Facility, No Drivers License, and Failure to Appear in Court on a No Drivers License charge.

Trejo was arrested after being observed leaving the parking lot of Lowes in Murphy.  Investigator Tory Shivers stopped Trejo and determined that he did not have a driver’s license and was wanted for failing to appear  in court on a no drivers license charge.  After arresting Trejo, drug paraphernalia was found in his car and upon arriving at the jail, a small plastic bag containing methamphetamine was found in hidden in his underwear.  Trejo was confined to the Cherokee County Detention Center under a $15,000 bond (secure) set by Magistrate Todd Davis.

Case Investigators were Tory Shivers Sr. and Keith Watkins assisted by Patrol Deputy Nolan Queen.
