Meth Lab found at Murphy, NC Campsite

Cherokee County NCThe following news release has been issued by Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office

Murphy, NC— On Wednesday June 19th, 2013 investigators from the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant on West Hollow St. in Murphy, North Carolina. During the course of the search several “One Pot Meth Labs” or “Shake and Bakes” were discovered at a campsite along with material that was would normally be used in the manufacture of methamphetamine.

The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigations Lab Response Team was called to assist in the investigation. Upon their arrival the SBI response team took control of the evidence and chemicals.

During the investigation information was received that an individual that was actively making methamphetamine at the West Hollow St. address was injured from some type of chemical explosion. The investigation is continuing and charges are expected in the case.

The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office reminds everyone that the manufacture of methamphetamine is extremely dangerous due the chemicals that are used in the manufacture of methamphetamine. If someone in Cherokee County were to discover what they believe to be a meth lab they are instructed to call the 911 so that the item can be inspected. People are cautioned against handling the suspected meth labs due to their dangerous nature.
