Murphy man arrested for shooting another during altercation

Scott Doyle WilsonThe following news release has been furnished by Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.  All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Murphy, NC — On October 02, 2013 at about 8:30 pm the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office responded to an address in the Peachtree Community of Cherokee County in reference to a report of a man being shot and a female who had possibly been mauled by a dog.

During the investigation information was discovered that Scott Doyle Wilson of Murphy North Carolina, had been involved in an altercation with another male and during the altercation Wilson shot the male with a handgun. Wilson was brought to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office and was charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury. Wilson was taken before the North Carolina Magistrate who set a $10,000.00 secure bond. Wilson has a October 15th, 2013 District Court date.

The male victim was flown out to Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga Tennessee due to the nature and severity of the wound and is currently in critical condition. During the investigation it was discovered that a female who had been at the residence had sustained injuries from a dog attack. The female was taken to Murphy Medical Center and later transported to Erlanger Hospital and she is currently listed as being in fair condition.
