Murphy man charged with Breaking and Entering and Felony Larceny

The following press release has been issued by Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.  All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

On January 27, 2014, David Joseph Alverson, age 33, of Murphy, NC, was charged with Breaking and Entering, Felony Larceny after breaking and entering, and Obtaining Property (cash) by False Pretense.

Alverson was charged after Investigator Harold Mashburn began an investigation into the break in of a shop located on Mountain Storage Drive in which about $1600.00 in tools were taken on January 19th, 2014. Mashburn located the tools at a local pawn shop and with the assistance of the pawn shop owner, was able to identify Alverson as having sold the tools shortly after the break-in.

Alverson was located in the Clay County Jail and a detainer has been placed on him pending his release there on the Clay County charges.
