Murphy man charged with felony child abuse

Levi Winslow SuttonThe following press release has been issued by the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.  All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Levi Winslow Sutton, age 25, of Murphy, NC was arrested and charged with Felony Child Abuse.

The arrest was the result of injuries that a three year old boy sustained resulting in medical care; a fractured arm, numerous bruises and a contusion.

The injury was reported to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office on January 17, 2014 and was believed to have occurred at a residence on Cope Road in Andrews, NC.

The case is still under investigation. Sutton is confined to the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center under a $25,000.00 bond (secure).

Sutton is also confined under Injury to Personal Property, Assault on a Female, and Assault by Strangulation. Those charges are in connection with a Domestic Violence incident which occurred earlier at the Cope Road residence.

Investigating Officers are Investigator Keith Watkins and Patrol Deputies Tory Shivers, Jr. and Brandon Morgan.
