North Carolina Fire Crew to Help Fight Fires in Northern California

FireTwenty U.S. Forest Service employees from North Carolina are leaving to help fight fires in northern California. The employees are members of a Type 2 Initial Attack Crew.

The crew will be flying out of Knoxville, Tenn. on Tuesday. The crew members will receive their assignment orders after arriving in California.

This is the first time in several years that a North Carolina-based, U.S. Forest Service crew has been dispatched to fight fires in the western United States.

The U.S. Forest Service employees are based at the Nantahala, Pisgah, and Uwharrie, National Forests in North Carolina.
