The Clay Co. Sheriff’s office received a report of a stolen Kubota L2850 farm tractor on May 4. The tractor was stolen from the Hayesville end of Fires Creek sometime between the evening of the third and morning of the forth.
Deputies have talked with neighbors and are working on leads in this case. The sheriff’s office has a partial description of a vehicle seen in the area around the time of the theft.
Sheriff Vic Davis asks that if you saw a red GMC truck pulling a black equipment trailer, with or without a tractor, around the time of the theft to please call the sheriff’s office with any information that you may have.
A vehicle matching this description was seen in the Fires Creek area on the day of the theft. Sheriff Davis stresses that deputies would like to be able to rule this vehicle out if it was not involved in the theft or be able to charge the ones responsible for the theft and retrieve the tractor.
Deputies feel that the tractor was driven to or near Fires Creek road where it loaded onto an equipment trailer and transported from there to another location, possibly in Georgia. If you saw the tractor on Fires Creek road on the Hayesville end of Fires Creek or someone loading the tractor onto a trailer, this just might be the tip we need to solve this case said Sheriff Davis.
Please call the Clay County Sheriff’s Office at (828) 389-6354 with any information.
