The following press release has been issued by Chief Justin Jacobs, Town of Murphy Police Department
At or around 3:35 pm Thursday, May 16, Mrs. Fame Conley, of Murphy, was traveling northeast on Tennessee St. past the intersection of Payne St. approaching Mountain Man Produce. The 2011 Jeep Cherokee that Mrs. Conley was operating left the roadway on the right shoulder and traveled approximately 190 feet before landing on its side in a water filled ditch.
Mrs. Conley was the only occupant in the motor vehicle. After further examination, Mrs. Conley appeared to be under the influence of an alcoholic substance. Mrs. Conley was then arrested by Patrol Officer Sky M. Beaver and charged with Driving While Impaired (DWI). Mrs. Conley was released a short time later on a $1,000.00 unsecured bond.
Cherokee County 911 Dispatch, Cherokee County Medics, Station 11 (MVFD) and Station 19 (Cherokee County Rescue Squad) assisted MPD with this accident. Mrs. Conley’s motor vehicle was towed from the scene of the accident. This accident is under further investigation.
