The following announcement has been made available by Towns County Sheriff’s Office.
“Towns County Sheriff’s Detention Deputy Amy Burch suffered an apparent cardiac arrest at her home in Towns County on Saturday, May 18. She was transported to Chatuge Regional Hospital and then to Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
She remained in critical condition until she passed away on Tuesday, May 21.
Deputy Burch was a very popular staff member with Towns County Sheriff’s Office, always bringing a smile with her to work. She has been with the Sheriff’s Office, working full-time in the Detention Center and part-time performing Administrative duties, for over three years.
Arrangements will be announced as they become available. Towns County Sheriff’s Office asks citizens to keep her husband, her children and grandchildren, and her friends and co-workers in your prayers.“
