The following press release has been issued by Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
On January 8, 2014, Investigators with the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office arrested two people in connection with the break in of a residence on Boiling Springs Road in Cherokee County.
Arrested were Micah Aaron Reeves, age 35, of 961 Hanging Dog Road, Murphy, and Jessica Elene Garrett, age 29, also of 961 Hanging Dog Road, Murphy. Both were charged with Breaking and Entering, Larceny after Breaking and Entering, and Obtaining Property by False Pretense. Reeves was also charged with Possession of Methamphetamine.
The arrests came about after officers had monitored a sale by Reeves and Garrett to a local pawn shop on January 6th, in which an antique telephone and antique medicine cabinet were sold. On January 8th, 2014, a property owner reported the break-in of a home on Boiling Springs Road and reported the antique telephone, medicine cabinet and a multitude of other antiques taken.
Investigators obtained search warrants for Reeves’ and Garrett’s home on Hanging Dog Road and a shop which Reeves uses on Old Ranger Road. On the night of January 8th, those search warrants were served resulting in the seizure of several more items that had been stolen from the Boiling Springs Road dwelling.
Reeves and Garrett were arrested at the shop on Old Ranger Road. Bond was set by Magistrate Joe Bateman at $10,000.00 for Garrett and $15,000.00 for Reeves.
