U.S. 441 in Swain County Closed Due to Rock Slide (Update from NC DOT)
Sunday morning Update: WKRK has received a message that the rock slide has been cleared and the road is now open. Please drive with care.
U.S. 441 east of Bryson City is closed due to a rock slide that occurred earlier this evening. The road is closed from Cherokee to Gatlinburg, Tn. and is not expected to reopen before noon on Monday, July 22. Officials will begin to assess the damage once conditions are deemed safe.
Motorists are advised to use the following detour to Tennessee:
- I-40 West into Tennessee to U.S. 321 (Exit 435) to U.S. 321 South to Galinburg.
