![]() The following press release has been issued by Towns County Sheriff's Office. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. On Monday, April 17th, Towns County Sheriff’s Office received a theft report on Lovingood Road in Hiawassee, Georgia. One of the items stolen was a credit card, which was used at numerous locations throughout Towns County. The stolen credit card was determined to have been used at Ingles, Denton’s Grocery, Lakeview Store, Marathon Station, Valero Station, Monte Alban, and Hardees. Sheriff’s Office Investigators following up on the reported theft have arrested Colin Brennan Maguire, age 34 of Hayesville, North Carolina in reference to the reported theft and fraud associated with the use of the stolen credit card. Maguire was arrested on April 18th and charged with the following offenses: 29 Counts of Financial Transaction Card Fraud 1 Count of Theft by Taking (Felony) 1 Count of Theft by Deception (Misdemeanor) 1 Count of Driving on Suspended Driver’s License 1 Count of Use of License Plate for Purpose of Concealment The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are likely in North Carolina related to the use of the stolen credit card.
