Official Press Release Location: Movie Time Video, Murphy, NC 28906 Date of Incident: July 25th, 2016 Time of Incident: 10:04 pm Agencies Involved: Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, Cherokee County 911 Dispatch Center, Murphy Police Department Incident Narrative: On July 25th, 2016, at approximately 10:04 pm, the Murphy Police Department was dispatched to a report of an armed robbery at Movie Time Video on Andrews Road in Murphy. Officers with the Murphy Police Department, along with deputies from the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene. It was reported to officers that a white male subject came into the Movie Time Video store around closing time. The male subject was wearing blue jeans and a gray tee shirt, some type of mask around his face and had a black hand gun. The clerk reported to officers that the male subject came into the store and pointed the hand gun at the clerk and told the clerk to go into the office and not to come out until the clerk counted to 200. The male subject took money from the cash register and strong box. While the clerk was inside the office, the male subject took the business telephone from the front area and went to the back area of the store where he switched the breaker for the lights inside the store off and left through the back door. Officers are attempting to gather any video from surrounding businesses that may help in this investigation.
