![]() The following press release has been issued by the Clay County Sheriff's Office. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. On March 4, 2017, at approximately 7:52 PM, Clay County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to Ford Road in Warne in reference to a breaking and entering. Sheriff Davis said the victim in this case returned home to find her back door open, with broken glass on her porch, and a bloody mess in her kitchen. She went back to her car, called 911, and waited for deputies to arrive. The first responding deputy entered the residence and began to check it for anyone inside. He followed a blood trail all the way to a bedroom where he discovered a naked man, who appeared to be passed out, lying on a bed. Another deputy arrived shortly after and they were able to take the man into custody. Sheriff Davis said the man was later identified as Dwight Scott McClure, 36, of Warne. It appears a possible motive was to steal medications as there were several gone through in the residence. Other possible motives are under investigation at this time. McClure was transported to Murphy Medical Center for his injuries and was later arrested and charged with Felony Breaking and Entering, Injury to Real Property, Failure to Appear on a Felony, and Failure to Appear on a Misdemeanor. He is currently being held in the Clay County Detention Center on a total bond of $32,000. He has a court date of March 13, 2017.
