The following press release has been issued by Clay County Sheriff's Office. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
On Thursday May 11, 2017, Clay County Sheriff’s Investigators stopped a Toyota Camry on Lance Cove Road. Sheriff Vic Davis said, during this encounter a K-9 was deployed and alerted to the presence of narcotics. A search of the vehicle was conducted where methamphetamine and hydrocodone were discovered. Both subjects in the vehicle were arrested. William Dean Moss, 50, and Michelle Diane Moss, 58, both of Hayesville, were charged with Felony Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Schedule II Controlled Substance, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Both received a $20,000 bond and remain in the Clay County Detention Center with a May 15, 2017 court date.
