The following is a press release from the Murphy Police Department in reference to the fire behind Walmart this morning. This case is currently under investigation by the Murphy Police Department and the North Carolina Forest Service.
There was a brush fire today in a field area behind Walmart in Murphy. The fire consumed approximately 2.5 acres and was reported to Cherokee County Dispatch. The following agencies responded: The Murphy Police Department, Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, North Carolina Wildlife, Murphy Fire Department, Peachtree Fire Department, Ranger Fire Department, and North Carolina Forest Service. Thanks to the fast actions of the Fire Departments and NC Forest Service, the fire was extinguished. This case is currently under investigation.
