 The Nantahala National Forest will close four shooting ranges for brief periods during the next three weeks to allow surveying for possible site improvements.
On the Tusquitee Ranger District, Panther Top Shooting Range will be closed on April 14th. On the Cheoah Ranger District, Atoah Shooting Range will be closed April 15. On the Nantahala Ranger District, Dirty John Shooting Range will be closed April 18 and 19 and Moss Knob Shooting Range will be closed April 20 and 21. During the closures, a contractor will be surveying the sites to design and plan for possible improvements in facilities and future installation of ballistic sand so that lead can be recycled.
