The following press release has been issued by Clay County Sheriff's Office. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
On Thursday August 10, 2017, Joshua Morgan was arrested and served with True Bill of Indictments on several charges stemming from a case earlier this year. Sheriff Davis said back in January the Sheriff’s Office received a call on a stolen purse. The victim later discovered her cards had been used at Dollar General and Walgreens at amounts in excess of $500. Investigators were able to get video footage of the incident and later identified the man as Morgan. Morgan was indicted on Breaking and Entering of a Motor Vehicle, Larceny After Breaking and Entering, and Obtaining Property by False Pretense. Morgan was on federal probation at the time and was violated and sent back to federal prison in Kentucky. Once he was released he was brought back to Clay County. When he got here he was served with the indictment and was also served with warrants out of Cherokee County. He is currently in custody in the Clay County Detention Center under at $20,000 bond.
