Multiple Felony Drug Arrests in Hiawassee

The following press release has been issued by Hiawassee Police Department.  All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. 

The Hiawassee Police Department has been hard at work fighting a growing drug problem in our area. A total of eight suspects were arrested by Hiawassee Police Officers in recent weeks for felony drug charges. An additional six suspects were arrested for misdemeanor drug charges. All arrests were results of traffic stops by Hiawassee Police Officers, with the assistance of the Towns County Sheriff’s Office.

The following are the felony drug arrests:

1. Adrian Martin, 46, Hayesville NC: Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Related Objects, Obstructing Law Enforcement Officer

2. Tonya Newberry, 35, Bartow GA: Possession of Methamphetamine

3. Heather Heard, 41, Young Harris GA: Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Related Object

4. Lissa Ledford, 45, Franklin NC: Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Related Object

5. Chad Garrett, 37, Hayesville NC: Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Drug Related Object

6. Jessica Cox, 30, Warne NC: Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Drug Related Object

7. Heather Cooper, 25, Blairsville GA: Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Related Object

8. Dexter Adams, 52, Hiawassee GA: Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Drug Related Object, Possession of Marijuana Less Than One Ounce
