![]() The following press release has been issued by Cherokee County Sheriff's Office. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Murphy, NC— Sheriff Derrick Palmer announced the July 13th, 2016 arrest of 42-year-old Jennifer Dale Farmer who gave a Murphy, North Carolina address for charges handed down from the July 11th, 2016 Grand Jury Session. On March 26th, 2016 the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office was called to a residence in the Beaver Dam Community of Cherokee County to investigate a suspicious fire. During the investigation, information was made known that one of the occupants of the residence had been burnt in the fire and had been flown to a burn hospital in Georgia because of the nature and severity of the injuries. As the investigation continued, information became known that indicated that Farmer was suspect in the crimes. That information was presented to the Cherokee County Grand Jury who handed down indictments for Assault With a Deadly Weapon with the Intent To Kill Inflicting Serious Injury and Fraudulently Burning of a Dwelling. Farmer was served with the indictments and is currently in the Cherokee County Detention Center on a $150,000 secure bond awaiting a November 7th, 2016 Superior Court hearing. Sheriff Palmer encourages any one that has information on this crime or any other to report it.
