![]() The following press release has been issued by Cherokee County Sheriff's Office. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Murphy, NC— Sheriff Derrick Palmer announced the October 26th, 2016 arrest of 41-year-old Bradley Wayne Lackey of Murphy, North Carolina for violations of the controlled substance laws. Deputies and Detectives went to the Lackey residence to serve an arrest warrant on him. Upon arriving at the residence Lackey refused to exit the residence and while trying to convince Lackey to come out, Detectives smelled a strong odor of marijuana. The scene was secured while a search warrant was obtained for the residence. Before serving the search warrant, Lackey surrendered to Deputies. The Search warrant was then served on the residence where a quantity of Methamphetamine, Marijuana and paraphernalia was located within the residence. Lackey was charged with Possession With The Intent to Manufacture Sell/Deliver Methamphetamine, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Marijuana Paraphernalia, Possession of Paraphernalia, Misdemeanor Larceny. Lackey posted a $10,000.00 secure bond and is currently being held on a Civil Purge for an outstanding Child Support arrearage. Lackey is scheduled to appear in Cherokee County District Court on November 22, 2016. Sheriff Palmer encourages any one that has information on this crime or any other to report it.
