​Suspect Charged in Murder Case

The following press release has been issued by Clay County Sheriff's Office.  All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Hayesville, NC – (June 21, 2019) Clay County Sheriff’s Investigators arrested 17-year-old Caleb Anthony Ellis today in connection with the murder of 17-year-old Jordan Ramon Garcia. Ellis is currently being held in the Clay County Detention Center with no bond. Ellis has been charged with: Murder, Felony Obstruction, Felony Concealment of a Human Death and Communicating Threats.

​Additional charges were filed today against Shirley Lance Sherlin. Sherlin was charged with one count of Felony Obstruction and was released on an unsecured bond. A detailed press release will be issued on Monday by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.
