![]() The following press release has been issued by Cherokee County Sheriff's Office. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Murphy, NC— Sheriff Derrick Palmer announced the November 2nd, 2016 arrest of 29-year-old Travis Wyatt Beaver of Blairsville Georgia, for charges stemming from a May 1st, 2016 breaking and entering in Cherokee County, North Carolina. On October 31st, 2016 the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by the owner of a residence in the Hothouse Community of Cherokee County stating that a part year residence that he owned had been broken into. During the investigation, text messages were located that indicated that the individual who had broken into the residence wanted to rent the residence. Arrangements were made to meet and upon Beaver’s arrival at the residence, he was arrested and taken to the Cherokee County Detention Center. Beaver was charged with SECOND DEGREE BURGLARY, INJURY TO PERSONAL PROPERTY and is currently free after posting a $10,000.00 secure bond. Sheriff Palmer remarked, “Again, great team work by two of our officers and the victim. Detective White and Deputy Spradlin made contact early in the investigation which helped bring a quick arrest in this crime.” Sheriff Palmer encourages any one that has information on this crime or any other to report it.
